Destiny 2 / Halo Cross-Over Event Rumored Leaks!

Destiny 2 has had its fair share of leaks throughout the years both from data miners to inside sources at Bungie. A possible leak is currently making waves over on Raid Secrets, the subreddit dedicated to everything Destiny 2. While the following is not confirmed and should still be taken with a grain of salt, the source and leaked material has proven to be credible in many ways.

A reddit user who goes by the username "Extremely-Zesty", obtained a rather peculiar image after it made it's way through numerous discord servers. Looking at the image , it lists multiple things that are supposedly coming to Destiny 2 in the future. How is this credible and not a likely troll? First let's look at the date the image was created, as it's been confirmed to have first originated on April 23rd 2021 by multiple investigators over on the subreddit. What is the significance of this date? Well for starters, the latest season in Destiny 2 "Season of the Splicer" launched May 11th. Not only does the image list upcoming events and spoilers, but it accurately predicted the current season and what it included prior to its release!

Perhaps the most notable line on the list besides potential plot spoilers if they come to fruition, is the one that lists a "Bungie 30th Anniversary". On this line it states, Bungie wants HALO and Marathon Tie-ins in the form of weapons, dungeons, quests, armors, and more to celebrate the studios legacy. It's important to note a few things before putting on the tinfoil hat. While Bungie is the original developer of the HALO franchise, they parted ways with Microsoft and became an independent company shortly after the release of HALO ODST and Reach, leaving the rights to Halo solely to Microsoft. Also worth mentioning in 2019 Bungie terminated their publishing deal with Activision, and retained all rights to the Destiny franchise.

As of 2021, its obvious the independent studio has become more involved with Microsoft. With the release of "Beyond Light" on GamePass day 1 and having ended their time gated Sony exclusive content, Bungie has been slowly warming up to Microsoft. The Bungie 30th Anniversary" is supposed to take place between seasons 15-16. This window lines up with another coincidental release, HALO Infinite. Could Bungie and Microsoft have made a deal to both commemorate Bungie's first major title by allowing such a crossover to take place while simultaneously promoting the newest HALO release?

There have been many rumors debunked and leaks proven to be true over the course of the Destiny franchise. A few years ago, the rumor of a Halo Crossover/Collab would have sounded far fetched. In light of recent events, this sounds more and more plausible. Only time will tell, but I for one hope to be wielding a Needler in Destiny 2!
